Underwriting FAQ

What is underwriting?

Underwriting is sponsorship similar to advertising but for public media. Underwriting differs from advertising in that it provides information about a service or organization. An underwriting message acknowledges support from a business or organization, but does not include a call to action or a sales pitch. Our team will help you create your underwriting message. To learn more about how we create an underwriting message, contact us.

How much does it cost to underwrite with AZPM?

We customize all underwriting opportunities based on your specific needs and budget. Contact us to discuss a media package for your business or organization.

Is paid underwriting eligible for a tax deduction?

Yes. Underwriting may be a tax-deductible expense for your business. Please check with your tax advisor to understand how underwriting can benefit your business financially.

How is AZPM different from commercial media?

AZPM offers a clutter-free environment with programming that is not interrupted by commercial breaks.

We carefully place messages so that our audience can enjoy quality news and entertainment for most of the time they are engaged. Minimal interruptions allow the audience to appreciate and engage in your underwriting message.

Public media is for and by the community. Our members value this public resource, and appreciate when a local business or organization lends its support through underwriting.

Does my business have to follow guidelines to underwrite with AZPM?

Yes. AZPM is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). We will help you craft a custom message that appeals to our audience and abides by FCC guidelines for public radio and television.

Will AZPM help me with my underwriting message?

Yes. Our team of editors and graphic designers can help you create a message that meets your unique needs for TV, radio, or digital underwriting. If you are building your own underwriting package, resources are available at this page: https://about.azpm.org/mediakit/. Please contact us with any questions, or for help creating a message for our audience.
