Eight National Parks in the Southwest, including five in Arizona, will receive $481,000 from the federal government to help restore natural wetlands.
The funding comes from President Biden’s Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act,. The two laws are set to provide the National Park Service with a total of $52 million by the end of 2023 for various projects.
The Parks Service says much of wetland restoration in the west involves controlling the invasive American Bullfrog, which according to the Oregon Invasive Species Council is a direct threat to native amphibian species due to the diseases they spread.
