Arizona State Land Department
Listen:
The 2015 report from the Arizona State Land Department shows total revenue for the state land trust was up 9 percent last fiscal year, to more than $200 million.
That increase is in line with what the fund averaged three of the last four years. The exception was 2013, when there was a spike in land sales.
The Permanent Endowment, which is where payments to public schools come from, has a $5.1 billion balance.
The endowment has shown a steady rise since the Great Recession.
Arizona voters will decide in a special election in May if the payout percent from the endowment should be tripled as a way to settle a funding lawsuit and add funding to schools.
