AZ WEEK: Supreme Court Rulings' Impact on Arizona

Court upholds key part of Affordable Care Act; redistricting decision forthcoming

Arizona Week Friday looks at the impact of U.S. Supreme Court rulings on the state.

The court ruled Thursday that the subsidies for federal insurance marketplaces are legal, a key provision of the Affordable Care Act. Arizona is one of 33 states with the marketplaces.

The court also legalized same-sex marriage in every state.

Monday, the court is expected to issue a decision on an Arizona redistricting case.

  • Jane Orient, a Tucson physician and executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, who opposes the Affordable Care Act.
  • Matt Heinz, a Tucson Medical Center emergency room physician and former state legislator, who supports the health care law.

Discussion of the Supreme Court's legalization of same-sex marriage and Arizona's pending redistricting case with:

  • Bill Beard, chairman of the Pima County Republican Party.
  • Cheryl Cage, chairwoman of the Pima County Democratic Party.
