On Sunday, Oct. 20, the Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation will host an annual festival celebrating blues music.
Gabriel Sullivan and his band Chicha Dust will be performing at this year's festival.
Chicha Dust's sound is inspired by 1960s and '70s Peruvian and Colombian psychedelic music. They play their own blend of psychedelic rock'n'roll and cumbia.
"In my mind it's the blues of Peru," Sullivan said. "It's old and it's in the roots."
Sullivan recently performed in France, and said the difference between European and American audiences is transparent.
"The cultures really shine through the audience," Sullivan said. "In Europe generally, in France especially, it's a very attentive crowd, very much there for listening and for the detail for the music. Whereas, I think American crowds are much more lively and just want to interact with you and have a good time."
The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rillito Racetrack Park.
It will feature a variety of bands, food and beverage, as well as local vendors. For more information and ticket purchasing, visit the Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation's website.
