SONORAN HOT DOGS: Janos Wilder, owner of Downtown Kitchen + Cokctails says Sonoran hot dogs take the classinc American hot dog, and transforms it into a unique culinary creation that fuses flavors of both sides of the border.
HIP HOP CULTURE: Alain-Philippe Durand, director of the UA's School of International Languages, Literature and Cultures, discusses hip hop culture, which includes many diverse forms of expression, such as rap music, graffiti, slam poetry, fashion and film. Durand is also the author of Black, Blanc, Beur: Rap Music and Hip Hop Culture in the Francophone World, a book about the complex history and global appeal of hip hop.
ART & IMMIGRATION: Culture Str/ke seeks to support the national and global arts movement around immigration. The organization is a network of artists, writers, filmmakers, musicians and other cultural workers. They fight against anti-immigrant rhetoric by exposing stories of migrants using various artistic methods. Favianna Rodriguez, an artist based in Oakland, Calif., is one of the founding members, and was featured in the film 'Migration is Beautiful'.
LOWRIDERS IN CHICANO CULTURE: A talk with Dr. Charles Tatum, about lowriders and his book, Lowriders in Chicano Culture: From Low to Slow to Show, which sheds light on the multifaceted cultural traditions of these heavily customized vehicles..
BOOKS WE LOVE: Chats with people during this year's Tucson Festival of Books about their favorite reads.
